November 2009 - Everybody Sells

"Everyone lives by selling something."
- Robert Louis Stevenson

I've talked to a lot of business people who tell me that they hate the idea of SELLING. They feel as though they are trying to con the customer as soon as they turn on their sales pitch. You know what I always tell them? You're doing it WRONG! Selling is nothing more than being passionate about what you do and how you can help people -- and telling everyone you meet about it. It simply means having a CONVERSATION with another person about how you can help improve his or her situation. You aren't trying to talk them into something they don't need -- you're trying to DISCOVER what they do need and how you can take care of that for them. So in November -- during the second in our three-part series on "Three Keys To Business Success" -- we will focus on helping you become a better SALESPERSON for your company.
